Wolf Marketing Group Identity

Identity concepts for Wolf Marketing Group. The project didn't end being produced but I still enjoyed some of my sketching concepts.

Since this was the first round of explorations I wanted to explore as many visual routes as possible in relation to the company. Since the company references "group" and works with digital analytics, I wanted to portray this thought three or more visual objects in relationship to one another.

The first set (1-4) of identity concepts reference the basic concept of group and numbers through the depiction basic geometry – squares, triangles and circles. I personally feel as if number 4 was the most successful representation.

Concepts 5 and 6 were in direct reference to the name, Wolf. Creating a the type out of these basic geometric shapes references the fangs of an actual wolf. Which is funny and I went with it. Placing these two sets of teeth (the M and W of WMG) in a circle represented a wolf's jaw-line with the two front set of fangs — which also created an interesting negative space that formed a M and W letter-forms.

I also shown an alternate version with the typeface I used earlier which was chosen for its structured, strict composure that reminded me of monospaced mechanical typefaces without referencing the usual courier family.

Concept 7 was shown as a hand-written alternative. When presenting initial concepts, I enjoy showing many paths that the project would visually be directed. I know this wasn't the best solution but opened room for discussion and even reasons why it wasn't a good fit for the company.

Concept 8 was asked by the client as a direction — merging the letter-forms together in a structured style that made sense. It personally felt a little too "corporate" for my tastes. With each letter-form being a part of the next one emphasizes "group" in its own nature.
