I am a designer with experience in print, identity and front-end web design. Even though I do have working knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript, I am no web developer.
I am in love with both print & web. Web was always an emerging field from a boy who grew up with 56K speeds and country winds. Web allows a true experience with your audience, allowing interactivity on both ends of the consumer & company spectrum. Being a web-nerd, I am naturally interested in the new trends in web design, particularly the HTML5 and Flash debacle.
Print has always been with me. I grew up drawing, painting and creating collages. Print is what I grew up with, it was what we interacted with, it surprised as children with the importance of books and later on - craft. After having a foundation in print and especially learning the actual processes of print production from offset, offset web, screenprinting, and vinyl signage – I am caught on print for life. Nothing is better than an engaging and tactical piece of design. Something that is real, that ages with time and has a life-span depending on its use.
Whats next?
More in-depth printing experiences particularly with print houses is one route I would love. Another - more experience with web interactivity and organization. I believe a tun of websites that may look aesthetically great but have weak navigation and organization. Even though aesthetics of web design are huge, I believe organization and navigation interaction are larger. They alone can make or break a website. Third – and ultimately the design dream of projects that I am passionate about either in music, younger generation activities and eventually local businesses. I have a drive to work for local businesses, to do something great, to effect the lives of people right in my own backyard.
I think that is my design dream – change, real results and creating smiles throughout its execution.
